I’ve just spoke with a customer service on apple.com’s website. The customer service representative called herself “Lori”. I told her that I wanted to buy a mac mini but was a afraid that the mac mini might get refreshed soon. I asked her can she tell me if there’s a new mac mini going to be released tomorrow? Lori at first suggested to go ahead to buy the mac mini today as there are no plans to refresh the mac. She then however retracted her statement and said Apple does not comment on rumors. This could mean that she was lying that the mac mini will be refreshed tomorrow and that she was simply trying to make a sale. Why would she retract her statement? All the more reasons why the mac mini will be refreshed very SOON!

Several days ago, we got a shot of the mac mini product. Few days later we got a leaked video of the mac mini. Now we have a leaked photo of the new mac mini box! All of these suggest that the rumored March 24 Apple event is definately about the new mac mini. Exciting!
A reliable source has told newmacmini.com that Apple is having a media event on March 24! If the event is about the new mac mini, we can debunk the rumor about the mac mini getting it’s own Core i7 mobile processor. We’ll see what happens!
From cultofmac.com:
The updated mini will sport both a Mini DVI connector and a Mini DisplayPort, which was recently introduced with new unibody MacBooks, according to unnamed sources “familiar with the company’s plans” quoted by Apple Insider.
I highly doubt they’ll include a DVI connector, seeing as Apple seems to be fully supporting the new standard DisplayPort.
An internal source has stated that the new Mac Mini refresh has been delayed until 2nd half of 2009. Judging from Intel’s roadmap, the mobile version of the Core i (Clarksfield) 7 is set to begin production in the second half of 2009. Could the Mac Mini be utilizing the new Core i7 chip? Will the price of the Mac Mini increase because of this? Only time will tell…
A thread on the MacRumors forums speculated that the new Mac Mini will have a Penryn Intel Processor with a FSB @ 1066MHz. It is also speculated that the Mac Mini will be running on an nVidia 9400 graphics chip. It is almost obvious that Apple will be substituting the DVI port with a Display Port, though there is a rumor that it may include 2x Display Ports.
So here we have a leaked video of the new Mac Mini. At least it is safe to say that the previous photo was not a photoshop mock up of what the new Mac Mini might look like. Though it is still not confirmed that this is real.
